My Story

Hello there,

You've arrived at the blog of Dittery Dot. I'm so happy that you are here, so please have a nosey around.

So what can I tell you about myself? Well my name is really Hazel and I just love to sew and make stuff. I have started this blog to track my progress and to connect up with other crafty people online. If I had to use some words to describe myself – sewing fiend, cross stitchaholic, silly, young at heart and a bit dittery.

I studied fashion at college and went onto university, and graduated with Honors in the textile field. I love trying new things, which has led me to explore all kinds of different areas. I have sewn dresses for a fashion show, printed my own fabrics, made cushions, had art shows in various galleries featuring my work, sold paintings, created and sold art dolls. I have even dabbled in jewellery making, and selling work at a cute vintage shop, Ruby Blue.

A lot of my work is based around telling stories through stitch. I was always encouraged to draw, sew and be creative as a child. I have a lot of lovely memories of drawing with my Grampy and sewing with Gran while she told me stories about her life.
I just like to make people smile and I hope that my projects do that or inspire you to go and create your own masterpiece.

I love doing custom work for people so please don't hesitate to contact me with any questions or enquiries about my work, I would love to hear from you.
