Custom Baby Blanket

Hello lovely people!

I was asked by a friend if I could have a go at making a baby blanket out of her favourite baby clothes.  I was a bit apprehensive as I haven't made one before and didn't want to ruin her clothes.  But I gave it a go and took my time!

First I used a quilting square to make sure all my shapes were exactly the same size.  I used 20 squares to make this blanket.  It worked out to be just the right size for me to sew on my machine.

I laid them out on the floor and made sure I was happy with the final arrangement before I stitched them together.  I did this in strips to make it easier to join up at the end.

Once the top layer was stitched together I pinned this to a piece of lovely soft felt material.  I had to put pins in each corner of the squares to keep everything in place.

Once it was all stitched together I used some bias binding to tidy up the edges and it was done!  I think it turned out really well.

Dougal thinks so too :)

R is for ....

Hello lovely people!

It has been a while since I posted but I have had this wee bundle of giggles to look after!

I finally found a wee bit of time to make a really lovely plaque for Robyn's door.  I used a metal wreath ring that I bought from a craft shop and covered it in some pretty blue ribbon that had tiny robins on it.

My mum bought a lovely wooden R and I wanted to use it in this project because I didn't want it to get chipped if it was hanging on a door handle.  So I used a hot glue gun to secure it to the ribbon.

I ran out of ribbon just as it was neatly finished so I decided to add a lovely chiffon rose I had made a few years ago and some fancy sparkly butterflies.
