Knit one, Purl one.....

Hello lovely people,

Ask any of my family and they will tell you that I am hopeless at knitting.  I have tried over the years and been taught by various people but never quite got the hang of it.........until now!

I have been learning to knit over the past month or so with another teacher and teaching assistant.  So far I have learned to cast on/off, purl, knit, add colours, decrease and I'm still learning to increase :S

So I started off by knitting something really easy, which only used the knit stitch........sandwiches!

I think they are great and I am really proud of myself!  Then I made a wee yellow bunny for Easter.

Now I am making myself a lovely bow scarf.  I got the pattern from Etsy but have found that the number of stitches needed to be doubled to keep its shape.  I will post a picture when it is finished.

So far I am really enjoying knitting and we are maybe going to be teaching it to some of the children next year.  So I will need to practice all summer!

Crazy Creatures

Hello lovely people,

At craft club we have been creating fantastic creatures!  The children have been working hard to stitch together their masterpieces and I have some pictures to share with you!

First the children had some time to draw out a design for a creature.  Most children drew bunnies but we had a few monsters and an elephant!

Then we drew our templates and cut out all our fabric pieces.  Once this was all done the children stitched faces and clothes for their creature.

After a few weeks the children were finished and and I took some pictures of their creatures today!

Every child's is different and I am so proud of everyone's finished piece! Well done! :)

A Easter Bunny!

Hello lovely people,

As Easter is near I have been making some bunnies!!  These bunnies are being donated to the school to raffle off for Easter.

I started off by cutting out my pattern in two different fabrics.  One bunny has patterned skin, the other plain.

Then I stitched them together and stuffed all the pieces.  This took a while because the arms and legs are very thin and I needed to use a skewer to turn them inside out and push the stuffing in.

Once this was done I stitched on the eyes and attached the ears.

Then the dresses needed to be made and fitted onto the bunnies.

The finishing touched were some bows and a bit of blush on their cheeks.

Now I am going to make myself a set of bunnies.  I think a family of four would be nice and I want to make them all different sizes.  I will put up a picture as soon as I have made them :)
