Creative Minds Are Rarely Tidy (Part 2)

Hello lovely people!

I have started pinning down all my petals and it is taking AAAAAAGES!  I even had to go out and buy more pins as I had run out!

I was planning on making a smaller petal template and pinning it, then ironing the edges to get my seam allowance.  But after doing 2 petals this way I was getting annoyed and bored so my mum suggested drawing around the quilt template and just pinning and turning under as I went along.  This was a lot faster and worked fairly well.

This is one of my pinned squares!  The square is about 40cm square and I have 25 of them to do. So I have a lot more pinning and stitching to do.  I am not sure what to put in the centre of the flowers? Maybe a button or a fancy bit of stitching? Not sure yet but I think it looking good so far.

A £5 Stool! Bargain!!

Hello Everyone!

Well guess what? I found another sad wee stool to do up! And it was a bargin at £5.  Here it is! I know it's not much to look at and the fabric kinda looks like a load of squashed bumble bees, but I thought it had potential.

But once the horrible fabric was pulled off it look ok!  It just needed sanded and a new coat of paint.

Luckily it was a nice day t get it sanded and I had a helper, Adrian! :)  He worked super hard to get it all sanded for me, which was lovely of him.

I asked him to give me a smile so I could include the picture on my blog and this was the lovely "smile" I got!

Once it was sanded I got a £1 tub of tester paint to cover the stool.  It took 3 coats before the colour looked good.  And yes I am using a bed sheet because I forgot where I had put my dust sheet.

Once it had dried I cut some foam to the correct size and borrowed a staple gun to fix the fabric over the top of the stool.

Then I needed to add a small ribbon to add some more decoration.  I thought it looked nice but needed something extra.  Adrian got me some upholstery pins and I used a tiny hammer to knock them in.

And here is the finished stool! I think it looks great, so much better than it was before!

Creative Minds Are Rarely Tidy (Part 1)

Hello lovely people!

Well I have spent a good 2 days sorting through my fabric basket!  I have washed everything, and ironed it all to make sure it won't shrink later.  And I've spent about 3 and a half hours cutting out petal shapes for my quilt.  I think I need 200 petals and I have cut around 168 so far, but I had to stop because my thumb is very sore and a bit rubbed from the scissors :(

But look at all the pretty colours I have so far!  And I have used up a lot of my wee itty bitty pieces of fabric! Hurray!!! I have also used up all those special bits of fabric that I bought because I liked the pattern but didn't want to use it because it was too pretty.  Other crafty stitchers will know what I mean ;P

A Beautiful Thing Is Never Perfect!

Hello lovely people!

This is just a quick post today.  Remember the vinyl buttons I got to put on my sad wee blue table?  Well I still had lots left over so I decided to stick them on our other table!

It's not exactly  the centre of the table and its a bit wonky but I think it looks good :) and they will come off easily if I ever get bored of button, (not that that is likely). :)
