Ribbon Madness

Hello,

hope everyone is having a lovely day today?  I recently went to Leeds Market with my boyfriend.  Inside there are loads of different stalls and shops selling all kinds of items.  My favourite stalls are the ones selling ribbons and lave and rolls of fabric.

I got this beautiful lace fabric at one stall.  I think it is for making sari tops but it was just sooo pretty that I had to get a bit.  Not sure what I can use it for yet, perhaps for covering a small canvas.

I also got some ribbons.  I spent about 20 mins ooooohing and ahhhhing over all the delicious colours and textures but finally decided to get a metre of each of these.  Adrian had wandered off by that point and think he was glad that I finally made up my mind :P.  The lace will make lovely flowers and the embroidered trim ribbon will look good around the edge of a top I have.

Sewing Fills My Days, Not To Mention The Living Room, Bedroom And Closets!

Hello there!

I was walking around Leeds Market when I saw this beautiful fabric!  I just had to get some, and wandered home in a happy daze :)

I had some pretty bobble trim in my sewing box and a cushion pad so I decided to make another one!  I know, I know, my family keep saying where are you going to put them all!

So I measured my cushion pad and made a quick pattern for it.  I left plenty of seam allowance and a bit extra for when I put in the bobble trim because it can be the trickiest part. You have to constantly make sure that you don't catch your bobble in the stitched seam.

Before I inserted the cushion pad in, I stitched my wee dittery dots label onto the back.

Here is the finished article!  And here is a better photograph of my button cushion :)  I think they look pretty together and compliment each other nicely.

Buttons, Buttons Everywhere!!

Hello everyone!

I have been moving into my first house! So my blog posts haven't been as regular and I do apologize.  Hopefully I will get back to normal in a few weeks time :)  However I have been working on some more cushions!

I have an extensive button collection thanks to my mum, gran and by buying over the years.  I love looking at them from time to time and laying them out.  I sound like some sort of mad collector!  Anyway I had them out again and decided that I needed more cushions.  I had an old cushion cover to decorate and some gorgeous rope trim.

I started by sorting my buttons into colours - whites, yellows, oranges, pinks, reds, purples, blues and greens.

Then I started playing around with colours and placement.  The photograph below is the final placement.  I didn't have enough red buttons so I just left them out.

Then I started stitching them all down.  This took a while! But gradually bit by bit I got them all stitched down.

To finish it off I used some cream rope trim.  I looped it at the corners to add some more interest and stitched a button on the join to help keep it in place.

Tah dah!! I will get a better photo up on the blog but I wanted to show you the finished piece. I am really pleased with it and it will go with any decor because it has every colour! :)

A New Home! :)

Hello fellow bloggers!

This is just a super quick post.  I just wanted to show you all my handemade things now that they are unpacked!

One of my Grampy's stools that I re-invented with a quirky bobbin lamp that was bought for me!  I still need to get another lamp for the blue button stool.

The cushions I made are all unpacked and ready to be snuggled up against :)

Aaaaand my Kiss and Hug cushions are out on display after being packed away in a suitcase for month.
